What are the dangers of the ABC diet?
Okay, so I want to do the ABC diet. In case you don't know what it is, I'll give you the first ten days so you can get a feel for it.
day1: 500 calories(or less)
day2: 500 calories(or less)
3:300 calories
4:400 calories
5: 100 calories
6: 200 calories
7: 300 calories
8: 400 calories
9: 500 calories
10: fast
And so on. It's major restriction. Firstly, how much weight do you think a 122 lb. girl who is 5'6 could lose by doing this type of diet for 50 days? Next, what are the health risks? And don't get all dramatic and say I'll die. I know this diet won't kill me. But, what are some dangers?
I'm guessing my hair will possibly thin, I may stop my period and (obviously) it could become a legit case of anorexia or bulimia. What else, though? Thanks in advance.

Because you’re putting yourself into starvation mode, you’ll be losing muscle as well as fat. That means you’re going to be dramatically lowering your metabolism not just while you’re starving yourself, but also once you try to return to eating normally. If you return to eating as you are now not only will you regain all the weight you lost, you will put on even more because you’ve slowed down your metabolism.
You will also obviously feel very weak, light headed, irritable, likely have frequent headaches and will likely blackout.

500 calorie per day —–> slow metabolism —–> very dangerous .

malnutrition, fatigue, and anorexic symptoms such as paranoia, sensitivity to cold, & depression….BUT it works. You can lose over 20lbs on the ABC Diet if the diet is followed correctly.

The biggest “danger” is that you may start to develop bulimia since you will probobally mess up and binge, then feel guilty and try to restrict too much and then binge again, creating an eating disorder and confusing your body to think your starving, then feeding it too much when you binge…your body will eventually hold on to fat for fear you will starve it again.
I think that the only big danger is developing an eating disorder. If you do stick it out and make it through the 50 days, you will have malnutrition since you are not getting enough vitamins eating such little calories, this can lead to anemia and depression as well as chronic fatigue syndrom.
I think if you stick to this ABC diet you can lose tons of weight, but then you will get “stuck” and will be seriously ill.
I am not against serious calorie restriction, I think its a great way to start a diet and get motivated but 50 days is too long and at the end of the day why do you want to lose weight? So you can look good and enjoy life more, right? Well if you do this diet you will be thin alright but too tired to get out of bed…and quite sick, too. So then whats the point?
Eat a little more and work out and you will be thin AND energetic, you will look great and have the energy and joy to go out and show off all your hard work!
II hope this helps.
